Daniel Ingram is a music composer and songwriter for My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. He composes the majority of the songs for the series and its associated films.

Ingram was initially approached by show producer Sarah Wall to compose for the series for his composition work on fellow DHX Media program Martha Speaks. The first demo he produced was the Laughter Song.[1][2]

Ingram has stated in interviews and in Little, Brown and Company's official My Little Pony Friendship is Magic guidebook The Elements of Harmony that his recording process consists of writing the lyrics first, as it "usually gives [him] ideas for the melody." From there, he composes the music as a piano demo and tweaks the lyrics as needed. He compares the process to "building the frame of a house before putting in the walls, plumbing, and decorations."[3] Ingram has cited Randy Newman among his musical influences.

For his work on My Little Pony, Ingram has received and been nominated for several awards. He was nominated for "Outstanding Original Song in a Children's or Animated Series" for Find A Pet Song and Becoming Popular (The Pony Everypony Should Know) at the 39th Daytime Emmy Awards.[4] He was a co-recipient (with Steffan Andrews) of the 2013 Leo Award for "Best Musical Score in an Animation Program or Series" for Magical Mystery Cure.[5][6] He has also been featured in Rolling Stone.[7]

As of My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Dance Magic, Ingram is no longer the composer for the Equestria Girls franchise.[8] Despite this, he also worked on the Summertime short Good Vibes.[9][10]

Outside of My Little Pony, Ingram's professional credits include composing for About a Girl, documentary series On Screen!, Martha Speaks, Pound Puppies, Dr. Dimensionpants, and the 2012 version of Littlest Pet Shop—for which he also won a Leo Award in 2014.
