June 2013[]

I feel that the article Storyline is unnecessary as MLP:FiM does not have a storyline except for Twilight learning about Friendship and becoming an alicorn. That "storyline" is spread out over a plethora of unlinked episodes.

The article attempts to forge a storyline but the show itself lacks any and all cohesiveness between episodes, except for 2-part specials and the Canterlot Games episodes. I do not believe this article is necessary.

What are your thoughts?  FANMADE_Animated_Derpy_Hooves_desktop_ponies_sprite.gif Sig1.png Sig2.png  22:38, June 28, 2013 (UTC)

I strongly disagree on just about everything written above.
  • For starters, Even if the show has a tendency to revolve around Twilight and friends, it goes to great extents to keep the "wait, what?" coming; or at least that's my sentiment.

And that's just the show. The comics usually go much further, and the other media sometimes bring a pearl or two.

  • Secondly, the unlinked episodes are now all litterally linked, twice ;p – On a more serious note, no, definitely no.

I removed the hidden text because i honestly thought it had either become clear to everyone how much continuity could be attributed to diverse episodes, or no one would bother try to find a problem in the construction's logic – which, I know, is not always supposed to be coherent.

There is a lot of continuity in the show, and if you put apart some episodes taking place in one same season and a few other exceptions, there is very often something to link to another episode, be it encountering Zecora, Trixie, Twilight's own evolution, Babs, the cmc – although that's screwed up in the pilot – ; the season one episodes which could not have taken place in s2 – memory spell and letters – ; and just so many other elements separating the seasons...

So no, sorry but I personally find this point mostly invalid. There is some possible discontinuity, and I went to great extent to show it in bold and tables on the article. For the rest, please tell me what I missed.

  • Finally, if it's to replace the résumé by a list, I think it would be like letting one know about any particular storyline's aspect only by reading the full episodes' pages, searching the transcripts or the Equestria page, or getting to see the episode. Definitely not what a wiki should do if you ask me.

This here article's aim is to provide a quick overview of what the media tells about History... or something like that, I guess ? FANMADE Derpy's muffin

Now I understand that there ought to be something to improve there, and your input on this matter is most welcome, as always. Thanks –  Drakehttp://i.imgur.com/p6yPvD4.png  23:49, June 28, 2013 (UTC)

Both "Storyline" and "Geopolitics"/"Politics" are ambitious to the point they're overreaching what constitutes helpful, concise, and accessible articles. I'm really against two encyclopedia-like articles that will just alienate readers. Just because you (Drake) feel that there's tons of story arcs in the show, doesn't mean that the wiki mainspace needs a massive wall of text describing all the overlapping and intertwining story arcs. I see your point, at least I think I do. Do we agree that one not versed into quite specific matters will avoid an article such as this one ? Now do you think that ther may be some people looking for information more specific in here, which most others will disregard ? In my opinion, there is no problem about this point.
Now about the whole "alienating personal wall of text"... well, let's say that given I have a tendency to make complete reviews, am totally new, and that just one other person on the wiki added more than one sentence of real content here, we're not gonna go far with only my own style, I perfectly agree. For this reason alone, though, I find your comment a bit unfair.
So again, what would you change to make it better ? Thanks –  Drakehttp://i.imgur.com/p6yPvD4.png  00:17, June 29, 2013 (UTC)
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm afraid of writing and proofreading: none of us are. I'm just reminding you to not go overboard with the whole "complete review" thing. If you want me to be really honest, what I would change is that I would just quit the whole Storyline and Geopolitics articles. But I suspect that's far too extreme for most people to agree with me. Understood, thanks for taking the time to explain this. Still disagree, but it seems like my point of view is only scarcely shared. Will try to reach consensus: Is it better with the – currently almost void – new part dedicated to continuity ? Any recommandation to make the page more acceptable ? While it's clear that you've spent a lot of time on the page and there's nothing inherently unfixably wrong about it, I don't feel that this type of article is a good fit for the main namespace. Its very premise invites a kind of essayistic filling-in-the-gaps speculation that, even if done conscientiously, this wiki isn't really the right place for. It's perfect for a blog, though. --Tulipclaymore (talk) 18:40, July 2, 2013 (UTC)
Agree - maybe it could go on its own forum on Forum:Speculation?  FANMADE_Animated_Derpy_Hooves_desktop_ponies_sprite.gif Sig1.png Sig2.png  15:19, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
Hello, not sure what you mean by blog, an internal blog post ? Also, Would a page about continuity in the show be appropriate for the wiki mainspace ? It'd just need a minor change on the present one... Thanks –  Drakehttp://i.imgur.com/p6yPvD4.png  23:21, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
Hello, this article may be of interest for those of you who think there is not much interest about history in the show. Thanks –  Drakehttp://i.imgur.com/p6yPvD4.png  00:45, July 12, 2013 (UTC)

In Sonic Rainboom, Dumb-bell claims the sonic rainboom is an old mare's tale. Yet he witnessed Rainbow Dash do the only sonic rainboom in Cutie Mark Chronicles. Are continuity errors like this necessary?   Heeeeyyyy, everybody! It's Meester Tweester!   14:10, September 1, 2013 (UTC)

September 2013[]

The article is more of a personal essay than a summary-style article. It is a collection of "facts" from the show instead of a description of the depiction of those facts. You ought to put it on your personal blog rather than the main namespace. —Throwy 12:47, September 5, 2013 (UTC)
