Hi all, 343 here. I've noticed that during the past couple of months, our Wiki has been host to many blog games. I'm not trying to be a party pooper as Pinkie Pie would hate that, but I'm just wondering where our blog policy has gone in regards to these. Our policy states that blogs must be about MLP in some manner of aspect or about the Wiki itself (from what I recall).

Most of these game blogs have nothing to do with MLP or the Wiki, so I'm just wondering where we go about it from here?

Thanks, 343TheGuiltyProphet - Talk 13:04, August 30, 2014 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment - Although I don't mind the blog games like the alphabet game and the infamous Hurt and Heal blogs and the stories that based on it. It's the ones that requires other users to participate like the birthday blogs and the "rate this or rate that" blogs that has very little relevance to the wiki or MLP and to be honest it's starting to get repetitive. Pictogram voting comment Comment I agree with the point that 343 is saying, but if we get rid of these blogs, we could lose quite a bit of activity in the off season. Most of the times unrelated blogs are made when the shows not going on, and users keep themselves entertained with the game blogs. I don't really mind a few game blogs, but when there are 10 revivals, it gets a little old. http://i.imgur.com/JKmDOkA.gif Bluelighting Talk 13:35, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
Pictogram voting comment Comment Per a previously archived discussion, I don't find anything particularly wrong with blog games, but I feel the phrase "all things in moderation" has at least some relevance here. Granted, given the number of users who create these games, such a thing like blog modding feels like something of a pipe dream, but after a while you notice how prevalent and (as Seaswirl puts it) repetitive it gets. I don't mind them, because blogs are there for wiki members to communicate. Despite the policy stating that blogs have to be about MLP or relevant to the wiki, I think admin energy is better spent on improving Wiki content instead of policing user blogs, which do no harm other than cluttering Recent Changes. Also, judging whether a blog is relevant or not is subjective. Cracking down on so-called irrelevant blogs could result in a lot of backlash. It does get a bit repetitive that the same kind of blogs are being made, as noted by Seaswirl. Yet, at the same time, if if restrictions were to be placed on these blogs, I think it's certain that there would be less activity in this wiki during the hiatus, like Bluelighting said. I think I have to agree with Steph on this one. Considering the popularity of these blogs, it would certainly not sit well with plenty of users to have some restrictions imposed onto blogs. I say let the blogs be, though I think the users who make these kind of blogs should take the phrase "all things in moderation" that Impy brought up to heart.  Sunset_Shimmer_happy.png Golden Bluebird Sunset_Shimmer_cutie_mark.png 15:28, August 30, 2014 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment A simple question. You speak of blog games, and after reading this and then Sea's subsequent response I have a little query. Would this apply to blogs such as my Nameless War fanfic, in which each chapter is its own separate blog. I'm just wondering if this would apply to fanfic blogs or short stories. Do they break the relevance guidelines as well? Now speaking of the blog games, yes they are too numerous and need to be thinned out. But banished completely? I highly doubt that such drastic measures need to be taken. Decide as you might the blog games can be fun, until someone keeps repeating the same blog game over and over. Then it just becomes repetitive and boring, much like recent Call of Duty games. Everything in moderation, just as Imperfect said.  UnknownProdigyhttp://i.imgur.com/OoYA0kr.gif 21:01, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
