Return to Apple Family Reunion

100 moons[]

Granny Smith states that they have an Apple Family Reunion every 100 moons. And according to Applejack in "Applebuck Season", the last Apple Family Reunion we saw was in "Friendship is Magic, part 1"

1 moon is 1 month (as in, that is how a month was originally defined - one lunar cycle) Assuming that their time measurements are the same as ours and their day, month, year are the same in relation to each other (and assuming that 1 month is about 30 days), than 100 moons would be about 8 years, 4 months. (and that definition would also be consistent with My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, since 30 moons, or 2 1/2 years, would be a considerable amount of time to be trapped in an alternate universe).

So, that would mean between "Friendship is Magic Part 1" and "Apple Family Reunion", over 8 years have passed. That completely throws off everyone's perception of the timeline. But, it would also make it easier to throw the events in the comics in, since one of the mirco-series comics spanned about a month.

However, one could assume that either Granny Smith forgot how much time actually passed and had the reunion early, or that the reunion seen in Friendship is Magic Part 1 doesn't count for some reason (perhaps it was a side-reunion and not the big Apple Family Reunion that occurs every 100 moons.

[if would have been better if they had chosen a lesser interval, one that would have allowed several reunions between the pilot and this episode, so that it wouldn't have thrown off the perceived timeline so much.] Vern4760 (talk) 13:58, February 25, 2014 (UTC)

Adding to the mounting evidence is the Apple Family photo in front of the barn. The third photo clearly shows Applejack, Big Mac, and Apple Bloom, as well as Braeburn (who was not listed in the roll call of characters introduced to Twilight Sparkle) and a foal-sized pony with the exact coloration of Apple Fritter. From this photo, we must accept one of three realities:

1) A "moon" is not a lunar cycle, or the lunar cycle is really spry in Equestria.

2) The photo is only a partial gathering of the Apple clan that was present, and Apple Fritter has a foal-sized relative that has the exact same coloring.

or, 3) Apple Bloom is an adult pony afflicted with dwarfism, and is older than Apple Fritter.

Only the first two should be considered serious discussion points.
