The Laughter Song is a song from the second episode of the first season of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, and the first song of the series. It is sung by Pinkie Pie when she and her friends travel through the Everfree Forest in search of the Elements of Harmony.

When Pinkie's friends are frightened by a grove of trees enchanted by Nightmare Moon such that they have scary faces, Pinkie sings the song to show them that fear can be defeated just by laughing at it — a lesson leading Twilight Sparkle to later realize Pinkie embodies the element of laughter.

Re-use[]

The song is included with the Pinkie Pie Animated Storyteller. A video of the song is available on Hasbro's website. Music from this song is used in the Swarm of the Parasprites and Rainbow Falls Flight School games on the Hub Network's website. The song is also included in the My Little Pony Live Show. It is the seventh track on the Songs of Friendship and Magic soundtrack album where it is titled The Laughter Song. It also serves as the third track of side B on the vinyl album Magical Friendship Tour.

The song is featured in Cakes for the Memories during reused footage from Friendship is Magic, part 2.

Lyrics[]

Pinkie Pie Giggle at the Ghostly S01E02

LAAAAAAAAUUUGH!

[Pinkie Pie]
When I was a little filly and the sun was going down...
Twilight Sparkle: Tell me she's not...
[Pinkie Pie]
The darkness and the shadows, they would always make me frown...
Rarity: She is.
[Pinkie Pie]
I'd hide under my pillow
From what I thought I saw
But Granny Pie said that wasn't the way
To deal with fears at all
Rainbow Dash: Then what is?
[Pinkie Pie]
She said, "Pinkie, you gotta stand up tall
Learn to face your fears
You'll see that they can't hurt you
Just laugh to make them disappear."
Ha! Ha! Ha!
Ponies: [gasp]
[Pinkie Pie]
So, giggle at the ghostly
Guffaw at the grossly
Crack up at the creepy
Whoop it up with the weepy
Chortle at the kooky
Snortle at the spooky
And tell that big dumb scary face to take a hike and leave you alone and if he thinks he can scare you then he's got another thing coming and the very idea of such a thing just makes you wanna... hahahaha... heh...
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuugh!
