For those unaware, "Jumping the shark" is a significant decline in quality. Like from Season 4 of Spongebob Squarepants to Season 5 (the episode in question being probably Atlantis Squarepantis or heck even as early as post-movie). The term was popularized by an episode where Fonzi from Happy Days waterskis over a shark. While I don't claim to be an expert on this, I do know enough to tell when I feel a show has jumped the shark. Anyway, do you think MLP FiM has done so? Are the episodes of Season 3, 4, and 5 nothing like the classic "Faust" era? Or is the show better than ever? I'm bringing this up because I see many people disastifed with Season 4 and 5. It's not a huge majority, but it's enough to be noticeable. This is mainly a response to GoldenLine's blog about ranking the seasons. Jumping the Shark is a result of a change that makes the show not feel like the show for example. (Example: A character who was never popular with the fans (called a Scrappy) suddenly getting screentime, like Angel Bunny getting his own episode, complete exaggeration of a characters known traits or even a trait that wasn't poignant until recently called Flanderization (Rainbow Dash saying 20% cooler too much and being too brash), or a major character change or removal of a popular character (Derpy no longer being in the show's background, or alicorn mane six).
