Hello everypony. Im writing a Fan Fiction about a Changeling, who no longer wants to be one and he needs to figure out what being a Pony is all about. So i just wanted to ask you all:

What makes a Pony a Pony?

And i'm not asking about the obvious things, like what Ponies are eating or what they look like. I want to know what, in your opinion, is the very essence of being a Pony.

And, sorry if this topic doesn't belong here. But i think it's an big piece of speculation.

He will not understand that unless he will become a pony. Teyandee (Talk) 16:23, June 17, 2012 (UTC)

Actually he is, due to the massive magic efforts of Princess Cadance, supported by Shining Armor and Twilight, but Celestia has stated, that she would never grant him the status of being a pony. So he has decided to convince her by proving that he is a real pony. But now he struggles with the question what makes a pony a pony.

Yeah my mind is just as twisted as it appears.

In addition to that, Celestia has put a threat to him, that if she finds any other changeling she will just wipe them all, him included, from the face of the world.

She is a bit vengefull in my Story because her pride was hurt in her fight against Chrysalis. 17:08, June 17, 2012 (UTC)

So is he a pony or not? By being a pony I mean looking like a pony, acting like a pony, having his anatomy similar to pony anatomy and so on.
And what does status have to do with being a pony? An animal is either a pony or not. Teyandee (Talk) 18:12, June 17, 2012 (UTC)

Status of a Pony means in this context, that Celestia doesn't think of him as a Pony but a Changeling who pretends to be one. And she declared, as Ruler of Equestria, that he, if he wants to stay in Equestria instead of beeing sent back to where he has had come from, has to explain to everypony he just passes by that he is a Changeling. Otherwise he would be, in her opinion, a danger to her subjects, which she, as the Ruler of Equestria, has to wipe out.

If i should explain more of the story, e.g. why of all Ponies Cadance is the one that changes him into a Pony, despite she's haveing more reasons to hate Changelings than any other Pony, i will need quite a lot of Space in here.

And as i said in the first post, i do not mean the appearance of Ponies. If you think about it it's an question that cannot be answered, like what makes a human a human, if not for his birth or his appearance. That's why i posted this in the Speculation-Part. Because all we can do is speculate.

Whoa, i'm definitely babbleing too much.

Actually im a fifteen year old girl trapped in the body of an twentythree year old man, so i can kind of identify with my own fictional Changeling. (Yeah i'm crazy, but that's not the topic) 18:44, June 17, 2012 (UTC)

Nevermind, just forget that i asked. 19:34, June 17, 2012 (UTC)

There is no way for him to prove that he is a pony and not a changeling, pretending to be a pony. He was not born as one of them and will never be fully like them.
The most important question is-does he pose any threat to other ponies? He should prove that he is not going to hurt them. Teyandee (Talk) 02:20, June 18, 2012 (UTC)

well, this will make quite a sad ending, don't you think?

Argh i tried to stop posting in here, maybe i should register... 15:45, June 18, 2012 (UTC)

Why do you think it will be a sad ending? And what does he really wants?

As I said it will be nearly impossible for him to prove that he is a pony. He may look like one, but still he will not be a pony. So to increases his chances of not being send to another place, he should convince Celestia that he is not going to hurt anypony. The question is - why can`t she leave him with the ponies even if he doesn`t have a status considering they will live peacefully.

And yes, think of registering on Wikia. Teyandee (Talk) 16:34, June 18, 2012 (UTC)

Well i think i have to put some things clear.

First: He was born as Changeling and has been, on his very fabric of existence, changed into a Pony by Cadance, Shining Armor and Twilight. He doesn't has just the appearance of one BUT

Second: He himself isn't sure about his "new" body.

Third: The three Ponies, mentioned above, say to him that he actually doesn't has to prove anything BUT

Fourth: Princess Celestia knows about his origin and declared (you know like a law or something like that) that he mustn't be seen as a pony and in addition has to tell everypony he sees that he is not a Pony (despite of being one, what he isn't aware of himself)

So Princess Celestia acts more like a vengeful Mare, which had her pride being hurt in the fight against the Queen of Changelings. She is the one that is wrong, but she insits on her opinion. That's why he is trying to prove himself, not just to Celestia but to himself too, as a Pony. And yes i know, that this isn't an easy task. If it were one i wouldn't have asked, because then i had known it myself.
