I'm going to be honest, I didn't like Season 7 as much as the other seasons. It wasn't terrible, and there were a FEW good episodes like A Royal Problem or Shadow Play Part 1, and the episode with Rainbow Dash's parents (forget the name) at least was significant in that way and had some cute fangirl moments with Scootaloo.
But, most of the episodes were dull, and the one Discord episode, Discord wasn't even that great in it, the big attraction was Fluttershy's cuteness.
So, for this reason, I was considering ignoring Season 8. That, and there's always a mid-season hiatus to drive us nuts, and I already waited six years for a few events that are likely never going to happen.
But, it does sound like an interesting concept with the School of Friendship and the students (mainly one each of pony, dragon, griffon, changeling, yak, and Hippogriff). Though the premier doesn't sound much fun with whatever Twilight has to go through there. (No, it's not because Chancellor Neighsay is a whole different type of antagonist than the true villains of the show... well, arguably that kind of conflict is less fun for me than the kind usually seen in two-parters)
Without saying anything about the leaked episodes, of course, though we're a little murky on how far that goes now coz Equestria Daily has mentioned announcement of synopsis as far as Episode 22 (and they make a point of not showing leaked information):
There are two, MAYBE three episodes that sound interesting to me, one of which is Horse Play for its focus on Celestia. The others, didn't really sound that interesting, and some sounded too repetitive or disregarding of previous episodes.
And then there's that one episode that not only sounds like it'll be hard to watch due to Rainbow Dash likely not getting to do the one thing she wanted to, but also the title, which I already discussed on its page.
But, the main reason is the synopsis don't sound as interesting, and Season 7 felt to me like it wasn't as good as Seasons 1-6. (Season 7 is always the bad luck season, like it's the point where 24 stopped being fun to the point of me Discontinuitying it and the seasons that followed. Season 7 of Burn Notice wasn't nearly as fun as the rest of it, and Season 7 of Supernatural is the least popular season, while the Leviathan leader seemed like a cool villain the Leviathans in general weren't that fun, and so forth)
Point is, will Season 8 have anything good to offer me? Will it be able to capture the same fun as the first six seasons or do the new writers just not have what it takes?
