The movie's just over 4 months away, though the novelization is just under 3 months away.

So, what are your expectations?

Will there be cute moments with the Mane 6?

Will the songs be as fun as in the show? (I hope so, coz Daniel Ingram's in charge of the songs of the movie, and him leaving has hurt the show so I hope it's worth it)

Will one of the songs be a villain song by the Storm King?

How will the final battle go down? Will it be as epic as Twilight's Kingdom?

What about all the supporting characters, what roles will they play?

How will the sea ponies be handled?

How long will the Mane 6 be in pony form, and how long will they be in sea pony form? (Can there be no pony movies with full-length ponies, or is the sea pony thing only for a small chunk of the movie, like the Breezie transformations?)

What does the Storm King's lower half look like? Is he a centaur like Tirek?

Will Starlight play some role? (We already know Discord was rejected from it)

Will the new animation style work with MLP?

Will it match up with the midway Disney movies and non-Disney animated movies (Aladdin, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Anastasia, Quest for Camelot, The Swan Princess, etc.)? I already commented on that in the movie's article

Here are my thoughts, some of which I'll only say once to avoid spam (just once here would be moderation, right?).

Since Meghan McCarthy is doing the episode, I have faith that she'll do it right. The songs will probably be fun, and we'll hopefully at LEAST get some cute moments from Fluttershy, maybe Rainbow Dash and Rarity, maybe even some funny moments from Pinkie Pie (when was the last time she broke the fourth wall?).

However, I'm not as excited for a full-length pony movie as I would have been when Equestria Girls was announced. There's been over a hundred episodes of ponies already and they're starting to run their course for me (plus I'm getting harder to satisfy nowadays), but I'll still love Seasons 1-6.

So, my expectations are much higher. I expect cuteness, catchy songs, epic battles, and... (and I'm only going to say this once for the record, and explain why it means this much to me here)

I REALLY hope they spectacularly destroy the Storm King. They don't need to reform him coz there's been a lot of redemptions lately, which fans are getting tired of, and if they do want to do another one, they can go with Tempest Shadow. She's a pony, and probably either went Emo coz her horn broke, or her horn was broken by the Storm King himself. Compare Scorpan and Sludge to G1's Tirek and Lavan.

Now, if it was coming on in place of Equestria Girls, I could just be satisfied that they did this once, with King Sombra, especially since EG came so soon after The Crystal Empire. But, a number of things got me thirsty for another official villain death:

1.) People kept speculating that he survived because of the horn thing, and trying to convince me of it, using the cards and some unrelated stuff as evidence to support this

2.) On that note, the official comics resurrected him, even though they can be seen as non-canon or a parallel reality (he did reform too easily for one as evil as him in the show, and is noticeably less evil even in Fiendship is Magic), so "officially" as far as the wiki's concerned he's alive

3.) They teased me very tantalizingly by wasting some spectacular effects that are usually reserved for animated magical villain deaths: The destruction of the sirens' astral projections, using the outline effect for Midnight Sparkle's purification (and even that only separated her as a separate entity from Sci-Twi whose death in Legend of Everfree wasn't all that spectacular, plus people think she's just in Sci-Twi's imagination), and spectacularly destroying Gloriosa's fortress instead of having an actual Gaea Everfree, basically recycling the ending of the first and third film.

4.) People who have never seen any of the G-rated Disney movies (except maybe Cinderella), Frozen, or the Tirek and Lavan episodes of G1 are under the impression that kid-friendly shows can't kill even a villain. I can name 47 G-rated movies or shows that do, 46 if you don't count Sombra and Midnight in this show, but it still stings to hear those comments. (And it wasn't even a villain who died in Frozen, but the main characters' parents, which is a lot darker, and the same little kids MLP was originally meant for form the majority of Frozen's die-hard fanbase)

  42. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  43. The Swan Princess

  45. We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story
  46. Winx Club (despite what the naysayers would have us believe)
  47. Yu-Gi-Oh (they censor most of the deaths with damnation but the Big Five, Gozaburo, Dartz, Zorc, and Bakura's deaths are definite)

Not listing some of the PG-rated ones such as Atlantis or Wreck-It Ralph, but kids like to watch those too

5.) Chrysalis survived what should have been a fatal fall, and was left on the loose, presumably in exile. (She's probably not coming back in the show, and if she does, it will be at a point where most of the fans have left coz it's getting too dull) Along with Sombra I wanted her dead the most badly, and while I could live with her redemption now, we're not officially getting either. (I came up with my own headcanon for her to give me peace)

Plus, a full-length movie featuring an actual, malevolent, powerful villain? Without the climactic disintegration (which can be done a NUMBER of family-friendly ways, some more so than Sombra, including the outline effect most notably used for Naraku in Inuyasha) or epic battles, wouldn't it be a step down from The Crystal Empire and Twilight's Kingdom, respectively? And by extension, G1? I don't know, it just seems more climactic and a sign it's not trying to be too childish (which of course I'm extra-sensitive to for MLP, even though they've done less kid-friendly things than that occasionally).

So, what are your hopes and expectations?
