So close to the finale now! Almost caught up on all the episodes! Time for Uncommon Bond! Are any of you even reading these? I don't wanna do these for no reason.
I knew Starlight Glimmer would have a part in here, but I also thought this was a Spike episode at first. Starlight had a ton of episodes this season, Spike had one, it woulda made sense. However, this episode was really needed! I'm glad Starlight and Sunburst's friendship wasn't completely forgotten about, especially after Celestial Advice when his picture wasn't even on Starlight's mirror. I know how close Starlight and Trixie are, but using Sunburst has a one-time plot device would be pretty unwise for the writers to do, but I'm glad that wasn't the case! I'm really glad we got to see some exploration of Starlight and Sunburst's relationship! Not only that, but we got to see Sunburst getting himself a new friendship buddy with a ton of Starlight's friends! Twilight, which I knew they'd hit it off! Trixie, which is pretty ironic because I thought Trixie and Sunburst would have a conflict over who is Starlight's closer friend! Maud? Now she was a surprise this episode! I really thought her friendship with Starlight was a one-time thing, but I'm glad they brought that up! Yunno is there really any character in this show that Twilight hasn't bonded with? Who knew Tara Strong would have this much time to record Twilight's lines all the way from L.A., while still working on the MLP Movie and the Summertime Shorts! I really coulda sworn Spike would be one of the characters to bond with Sunburst too. They don't give him enough characters to bond with. But at the same time, neither do the Remane Five (besides Pinkie Pie).
It was a pretty cute episode with a well needed moral! Season 7 has a huge stock of well-needed morals! In the past, didn't we all have that feeling that we had a friend we're close with and then get jealous when they neglect you for another friend? In all things considered, this seems more of a relationship episode. Let's say Sunburst and Starlight are a couple, for example, and then we have Twilight, Trixie, and Maud, who are girls that become Sunburst's friends, right? Starlight, the girlfriend, of course, gets jealous when it seems like Sunburst is more interested in Starlight's girlfriends than he is with Starlight herself, the one he's supposed to be with. We've had this kind of story before, but not in this kind of respect. I do not blame Sunburst for wanting to be friends with Starlight's friends, but what is blamed about him is that he wasn't taking much consideration to Starlight's feelings, and I don't blame Starlight for how she feels. Sunburst has really been neglecting her in here. Almost as if he were to accidentally create another equal Starlight! No one would want that! Well, except for someone on the MLP Forums who really wants to be evil again, and for the Cutie Mark Crusaders to give up their CMs. Not sure why though. But I'm really glad this episode turned out how it did! Starlight, Trixie, Sunburst, and Maud would pretty much hit it off as their own little group! Twilight's already got the Mane Six, soooooo... yeah. A group visitors I would say! ;)
Now what else was interesting was the ending! This episode was pretty much a direct prequel to the Legends of Magic series since it looks like this is how Sunburst got Star Swirl the Bearded's book, and that comic series is a direct prequel to the finale, which I'm just about to get to! So a nice well-needed episode to remind us that Starlight and Sunburst are indeed close, and I guess with them not spending much time together before the season 6 premiere would add an effect to that! Wasn't really a favorite for me though. I mean the execution did feel a bit boring, overuse of montogues, and Starlight turning herself and Sunburst back into foals did creep me out a bit too!
Might I add, this is the first time I noticed that big white line on Sunburst's face in between his eyes, and now I can't stop looking at him without thinking, "Sunburst, you have a big piece of tape on your face! Are you waxing?" XD
