Greetings everypony!  Darkblaze here with yet another blog post.  This time, I will be discussing my opinions on the three EQG specials released this year.  For anyone waiting to read this before their official release, look no further because this will contain spoilers regarding the content of said specials.  For anyone else, sit back and enjoy the ride!

I may be in the minority on this, but I quite enjoyed this special and regard it as my favorite of the three.  This is mostly due in part to the fact that this is the most "slice-of-life" Equestria Girls story we've gotten thus far, and I love it!  Rarity really shone for me in this episode, some of her best characterization in the entire series, and her interactions and antics with the rest of the cast were hilarious.  Speaking of which, the Crystal Prep girls returning was a delight as they genuinely seemed to turn a new leaf for themselves at the end of the episode.  I also really enjoyed the song; its upbeat tempo and catchy lyrics are sure to be an instant favorite for anybody!  Overall, I don't really have anything to say against this episode, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and I look forward to more stories like this in the future!

Equestria Girls: Movie Magic

Not sure how many others feel about this special, but I thought this was the weakest of the three released this year.  Admittedly, I did enjoy seeing the continuity from the last special continued over with the geodes, and seeing Sci-Twi and Rainbow Dash geek out over the movie set was adorable.  In the end, however, this special leaves a lot to be desired with a plot that has been done numerous times in the past.  I was disappointed with more than a few aspects of the film, including the limited use of the "Power Ponies" set and the fact that A.K Yearling herself didn't step in to play the part of Daring Do for the film (which would have been an awesome twist!). Juniper Montage felt too much like a carbon copy of Wind Rider, except with a less-plausible motive.  Overall, I didn't find much rewatch value in this and probably rank it a little higher than LOE (which stands as my least favorite special thus far).

Now, onto this episode;  honestly, I'm pretty torn with regards to this special.  On one hand, I'm thrilled that we got to see Sunset return to Equestia since the very first special and interact with Starlight.  On the other hand, I'm starting to grow numb to the whole "infected with Equestrian magic and turn into a demon" plot that has been present in the EGQ series since the first special.  I'm glad they did what they did here with Sunset's return to Equestria because it wouldn't feel right if they forced her apology to Celestia in this special, considering the synopsis (besides, there's bound to be better opportunities down the road for such a thing).  Despite this, the only reason this special is not my top favorite is due to none other than Juniper Montage, whose character grew worse for me in this special.  She's just a whiny, annoying character who pouts when she doesn't get her way, and her whole transformation was almost worse than Gloriosa's in the previous special.  Overall, I'm happy we fans finally got to see our favorite reformed villain return home, but this special is really a hit-or-miss for me.

Well, that's my thoughts, but what did you guys think?  Did they live up to your expectations, or were there some areas in which they fell flat?  Comment below!
