2017 is apparently a bad time for movies, as most of them look very dumb with only a few exceptions, at least to me. I haven't gotten to see any movies just yet, but here's a list of movies I want to see this year:

  1. The Lego Batman Movie (Feb)
  2. Logan (March)
  3. Your Name (April)
  4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May)
  5. Spider-Man: Homecoming (July)
  6. The Dark Tower (July) (Mostly out of curiosity)
  7. Animal Crackers (Sept) (Mostly out of curiosity)
  8. The Lego Ninjago Movie (Sept)
  9. MLP: The Movie (Oct)
  10. Thor: Ragnarok (Nov)
  11. Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi (Dec)

Looking at this list, I realize that only three of these eleven movies aren't part of some large, established franchise (Lego, Xmen, MCU, MLP, or Star Wars), and two of those three are movies I want to see on a whim, with "Your Name" being the only non-franchise film I genuinely want to see. Are there just no decent standalone films this year? Does anyone else have similar laments about this year's lineup of films?
