I don't see the code there that we were talking about, but you'd probably need it for the talk page links one too, so here's how that would look:
function tplinks() {
$('a.new').each(function() {
    if ($(this).attr('title').substring(0, 10) == "User talk:") {
        var t_href = $(this).attr('href');
        $(this).attr('href', t_href.substring(0, t_href.indexOf('?')));
    }
});
}
And then you would put the following above the importArticles call:
var ajaxCallAgain = [tplinks];

The code for the comment collapsing is here. You can just remove that and put it before the closing brace of the function in your global, should work. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 21:16, June 2, 2013 (UTC)

Suggestion for a new page Edit

It would be a lot simpler if you created a page on rules for uploading files. Not only is it easier, it also saves time on sending a message and waiting for a response; only to have the response a bit difficult to understand. 86.45.179.61 19:20, June 3, 2013 (UTC)

Oh, I guess I see it. You can't really compare to Rarity because she doesn't have the same level of contrast in her colors, but I guess if someone has an official source that doesn't have distortion like that (while not sacrificing appropriateness of color levels for it), so much the better. I have found issues with some of my other sources, not sure if this one has problems. If you don't know for sure that such a source exists, though, you can't really tag it for improvement because it could just stay there forever. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 03:26, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
True, even Callofduty4's picture has those big dots. I guess we can remove the tag, as no source of image. Muud FANMADE OC - Jr MimeTalk to me! | Edits!

CN ArabiaEdit

I'm sure someone else was using my account to upload that video, not me, so after it happened today on Smash Bros wiki, l changed my paasword.--Daipenmon (talk) 16:44, June 8, 2013 (UTC)

Wikia does it automatically. All videos using the youtube tag are being converted to on-wiki files. They're going to convert all of them eventually with a script, but for now it's happening when people edit pages. Don't worry about it. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 00:00, June 9, 2013 (UTC)

Events, pics. Edit

Hello, would Climate – and by extension weather – be considered Events ? I added the category but am unsure now. Also, are pictures with names "S[#]E[#] [stuff].png" to be reported ? Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 21:20, June 8, 2013 (UTC)

No, I think Events is for things like social events and specific occurrences like that. It shouldn't be in Society either for two reasons: weather is not something that is determined by society, and a page should only be in the most specific category of a branch, so being in Events it wouldn't be in Society. I don't think we have a particular category for that page right now because it's not something that we've covered before, since the show doesn't exactly give us much specific information. For now I'll just leave it loose in Content and if we get more like pages we can try making a category for them. Reporting those images isn't really necessary, there's an automated list of them here (as you can see, there are a lot, and it's not really a major concern). ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 00:00, June 9, 2013 (UTC)

Sunset Shimmer id Equestria Girls.png Edit

Is my computer being weird, or has the current version of File:Sunset Shimmer id Equestria Girls.png somehow become the same as its previous version? 64.118.115.97 22:30, June 8, 2013 (UTC)

Wikia's servers are capable of much more peculiarity than any computer is...reuploaded, hopefully that won't happen again @_@ ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 00:00, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
It's happened again...maybe try uploading a different new version, now that there's this trailer which includes File:Sunset Shimmer looking sinister EG.png (and File:Sunset Shimmer about to teleport EG.png) in 1080p? 76.9.88.175 10:40, June 15, 2013 (UTC)
Haha, weird. Do you know when it changed back? I think the servers were having issues during the times I previously uploaded it, so maybe it'll stick this time. If not, I'll send in a ticket then, don't feel like getting a new image right now. I don't think it would make a difference anyway, but maybe someone else can try too. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 21:37 (E 21:42), June 15, 2013 (UTC)

Ursa Edit

Re: This:

Also, I'm pretty sure that the terms themselves aren't italicized. 76.9.80.187 04:14, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Your reply: Given that the guidebook is the only one of those sources to use the lower case capitalization and that the guidebook apparently got some information from this wiki, I wouldn't be too surprised if it's officially the upper case capitalization and the guidebook just followed this wiki's capitalization :P (as for whether show staff were consulted, at least Meghan McCarthy and/or Jayson Thiessen "Didn’t help edit but contributed some behind the scenes info"). 76.9.80.187 04:55, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Now, why then does this page give the contrary information ? Ursa Minor & Ursa Major are both latin and english terms, right ? Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 10:52, June 10, 2013 (UTC)
That's what I'm trying to figure out. It may not actually have been taken from anywhere. This is a complicated situation because yes, they're Latin and mimic the form of a scientific name, but may not necessarily be being used as one. We have to decide between using Wikipedia's style guide and adhering to Hasbro's conventions (I guess usually we've used the former for formatting issues like this), and between treating it as usage of Latin terms or just a name. I dunno. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 22:53, June 10, 2013 (UTC)
Well, I'd be more than happy to have the conclusion to this; another case with really bugs me is the capitalization of Crystal "Ponies"... if we decide to use the wiki rules, might we as well try to apply a similar logic to these guys – as having uncapitalized "unicorns" is already quite a mess. Has a talk taken place for this issue ? Might help, or not. Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 23:27, June 10, 2013 (UTC)
Capitalization of pony species is definitely a Hasbro thing...I think. I remember there being discussion about capitalizing Crystal Ponies, not sure where it is though. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 23:49, June 10, 2013 (UTC)
Not sure if may help, but while Ursa is not an english term for anything but the family and constellation – and is therefore used with a U – minor and major became common language; which would mean that it could also be correct to use "Ursa minor". the more simple it gets, hehe... Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 00:22, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

Troubling flag Edit

Hello, I have a hard time with this. Now I can understand this is not a condamnation, but could you please tell me what the flag means, and what is to be done about it, from the contributor side, and for the admin ? Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 16:03, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Ozank moved the page and removed the delete flag; but the question remains, if you please. Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 16:23, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

At the time Juan tagged it, I would've agreed with the deletion, as it was very short and lacking in information. You can't just put incomplete pages like that in the mainspace. I'd recommend creating it in the Workshop if you plan to continue working on it or have others help (and maybe putting a notice saying so at the top of the page). That way it's clear that the article is in progress but it doesn't appear in the mainspace, where it must be wondered what purpose the article serves. Thanks, ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 22:53, June 10, 2013 (UTC)
So I should just have changed the address of creation ? Ok, my bad, then. Which "notice" do you mean ? Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 23:27, June 10, 2013 (UTC)
Well, we don't have an "under construction" template, so you could either use {{ambox}} directly or just use text, maybe bolded. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 23:49, June 10, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't get what I would put in this ambox; the workshop template includes such precision atop. Please precise ? Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 00:22, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
I meant, if you are currently editing the page (and therefore other people should wait to edit it until you're done to avoid edit conflicts and other such nastiness), you could say something like "this page is currently under construction" at the top. Otherwise, yeah, the Workshop template should cover it. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 00:28, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
Actually, {{Workshop}} changes appearance depending on what namespace it's in; if it's in the main namespace, then it can be used to mark which pages qualify for the workshop rather than the main namespace, and once a page is in the workshop (which is in the "Project" namespace) it changes appearance to signify that the page is a work in progress and that it doesn't need to be moved until it's expanded. Both forms can be seen in the documentation for the template.-- Undisguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.pngJonny Manztalkcontribse-mailedit countDisguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.png  00:33, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
If "both forms" are {{current}} and {{inuse}}, well, they're void. Sorry, but I don't see what to put above the rest; the stuff I put in initial hidden text ? Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 00:50, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, I really don't know what you're asking. If you're asking about the workshop template, then how it works is that it automatically detects what namespace it's in, and if it's in any namespace other than the "Project" namespace, which is where the workshop is located, then the form with the red image that can be seen at the top of the page is what's used, and if it's in the "Project" namespace, the form with the blue image that can be seen at the bottom of the page is used.-- Undisguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.pngJonny Manztalkcontribse-mailedit countDisguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.png  02:55, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
Prbably something I misunderstood from your advice, sorry. From what I understand, you tell that I could use an additional text on top of the pages, for example with a manual ambox; I would be interested in a precise example. If that's not it, please be kind enough to explain again. Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 11:53, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
Ah, I think I get what you're saying. Bobo's just suggesting putting {{ambox|text=This page is under construction.}} at the top of your workshop pages when you're working on them, but personally, I don't think that's necessary, as we rarely even have edit conflicts in the main namespace here, as busy a wiki as this is.-- Undisguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.pngJonny Manztalkcontribse-mailedit countDisguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.png  21:23, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

Won't use : could discourage; and edit conflict is no worry imo. I at least learned more about a few other things. Nice of you, guys; Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 22:39, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

Invisible flagsEdit

Hello, was advised to ask you about this : "what do you suggest for the entries [in the part where it's show time] there – use source to see the notes – for them not to appear in the index – as it would be exceedingly long – or for some to appear in index for reference, but not in the article's text itself, or even better : a totally invisible flag to which a link can point, but without any automatic trace[, which means that we manually define what appears as the link's target in the article]. Also, is it possible to ask the For template to only show the part after # in article#part for a link within the article ?" It is for the aftermaths' links, which may seem out of place, not putting every single entry in index. Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 00:19, June 12, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not aware of any simple way to hide page headers from the TOC, or include headers in the TOC that don't exist on the page, other than using a script (wouldn't be hard, but seems unnecessary and potentially confusing). For invisible places to link to, use {{anchor}} (anything with an "id" attribute can be linked to using #foo at the end of the URL). For section linking, you should be able to use just #Section as the second parameter to For (same thing for links, just start it with # to link to a section on the same page). If you want to alter the table of contents, you could make your own table which is formatted in a way that is more helpful for the article's organization (see, for example, friendship lessons). You can even look at the TOC's source code and build a new one that looks the same but can omit or add headings, though the code needed for such a thing would be very long. You could also use templates such as {{tocright}} or a multicolumn TOC, which is done using a script written for this wiki (see Equestria). ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 00:40, June 12, 2013 (UTC)
Complete, and more ^^ ; the anchor and multicolumn will do for now. Excellent, Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 00:49, June 12, 2013 (UTC)

MyLittlePony08-covB.jpg source Edit

Re: This: There's been stuff there directly from IDW on other occasions, so judging by that and the "Some of these covers are never before seen" together with these posts, The Round Stable's "MLP: FiM Issue #8 Cover Gallery" would appear to be a real source. 76.9.88.175 07:25, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

Hmph. Why don't they just say so? I could speculate that EqD gets their stuff from IDW too since it's all in neat sizes and Google searches don't turn anything up (that would also make things a heck of a lot easier), but they've never said anything (it would be mis-said to hell anyway since Seth writes all those). I'll mark it as potential until someone decides to stop being cryptic. Thanks for the links. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 07:30, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
Well, wherever they get them, must be the same place Tony Fleecs does. Need to put his blog higher in my list. EDIT: forgot to look at dates. Maybe Fleecs even took that image from TRS. Dunno. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 08:28 (E 23:57), June 13, 2013 (UTC)

Would you please ?Edit

Hello Bobo, far from me to bother you, but could you please give your opinion on this, as we would need both an admin's view, and one about technical detail; or tell me whom to ask ? Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 12:08, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

It's no bother. I'll take a look later tonight. You could also ask other admins, since I certainly don't represent all of them. I think ImperfectXIII is particularly active with content articles, for example. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 23:56, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
Will do. Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 12:30, June 14, 2013 (UTC)

"_" and " "Edit

Hello bobo, thanks for the advice about the semicolons, this had slipped my mind. I was wondering why people kept on replacing the _ in links by " "; isn't it heavier server-wise, and less clear, being breakable ? Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 12:30, June 14, 2013 (UTC)

Glad I could help. I'm a big grammar nut. Well, I prefer spaces, and the breaking. I don't know about the server, because pages are parsed once and cached for a while, and I'd think it would be negligible anyway. But I prefer spaces instead of underscores and I think most other people do too, so even if I advised you to do as you like, I think they would be changed eventually anyway, at least on mainspace pages. (Wiki bots such as AWB also automatically convert underscores to spaces, I believe.) ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 12:40, June 14, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I won't worry about it then, as long as hidden. totally another question, but when is it preferable to not use digits, for example for "main 6" or "the other 5", or "about 1000 years later", or "because usually 1+2=4 ?" ? I assume it's when using a single one, but just to know the nut's opinion. Thanks –  Drake –     EDYXHJv.png 13:33, June 14, 2013 (UTC)
Eh, that's one I'm not totally comfortable with :P. Usually I spell out numbers ten and below (or sometimes up to fifteen) unless referring to the numeral itself, as with math. Wikipedia:WP:NUMERAL may be of further interest. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 13:39, June 14, 2013 (UTC)

Blog and blog comments Edit

Hi Bobo, I'm having a lot of trouble updating file links for this image because Wikia is apparently having issues with blogs and blog comments. What should I do? Thanks, Steph physarum (talk) 35px-FANMADE_Octavia_by_the_fireside.png 13:48, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

Is imagecontrol unable to edit those? I fixed them, so no worries. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 21:37, June 15, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. The Queue wasn't working because Wikia was having issues with blogs, so hopefully that's fixed by now. I'm pretty sure imagecontrol normally can edit blog comments one way another. Steph physarum (talk) 35px-FANMADE_Octavia_by_the_fireside.png 21:44, June 15, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, that warning isn't a temporary thing, it's always been there that I remember :P. Not sure how high it is on the list of things to fix, which seems to be pretty long, so it could be a while (or forever). ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 21:53, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

No problem, thanks for helping! I'm here if you have any questions about editing. You might want to be more familiar with consistency across the wiki and with the style guide and other policies before jumping in. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 11:25 (E 11:31), June 16, 2013 (UTC)
I will take a look at that, thank you :) Also, I was wondering how you managed to add the timestanp into your actual signature? I could really use that.. User:TheOriginalCrumpet/Sig  TheOriginalCrumpetFANMADE Smiling Lyra Transparent

You can't do it easily with transclusion, which I recommend for a sig like yours. I designed mine to be as short as possible so I could substitute it without crowding the code. Try asking other users with transcluded sigs (Ozank, perhaps) how they do it. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40px-Lyra_speaks_S2E25.png 11:39, June 16, 2013 (UTC)
Alright, thanks again! :)  TheOriginalCrumpetFANMADE Smiling Lyra Transparent
