Quick Question Edit

Looking at those colour corrected photos of Family Appreciation Day that you just uploaded, it made me want to ask whether those are Photoshops, or a color filter used when watching the video. Sorry, I used Photoshop. If it helps, I used Color Balance and Vibrance. Do you have any other shots you want edited?

Although, now that I think about it, there are some numbers I could give you... when doing the color balance, +100 on the yellow-blue slider, and about -29 on the cyan-red slider. However, there is still a lot of color missing, so I recommend bringing up the vibrance +59 and the corresponding saturation +55. That's how I do it.

Pony placeholder poll images Edit

Hey Oaky, I'm just curious if you're using these images for placeholder polls on Reddit at the moment? I don't see them on List of Ponies or Project:Placeholder_names/Thumbnails at the moment. Thanks!  Food Foodbandlt  19:16, March 15, 2013 (UTC)

Yes. They're linked in the descriptions of the respective ponies (Jade and Unnamed ) for color reference, but the thumbnails on the list are the largest/highest quality even though they do not represent the truest colors of the ponies. Placeholder vote list Edit

I assume this list is out of date, since certainly at the least the polls you've opened recently haven't been added. There's also a forum about it (in addition to at least one other) which Pikmanipulator has been doing. I realize you can't edit the page since you're not an admin, so maybe you could contact me when updates are needed? I won't have time to work on it very much for the next couple weeks, though. Do you want every single poll on there to be added? Even the closed ones? Because I can see several there, for example, TheodoreRowy opened that aren't on the thumbnail list. Also, eventually nearly every pony will have a poll, so people might as well just go to the Lists instead of browsing that. I believe that page is meant to be essentially a list of every Reddit link currently on the list of ponies. It's like a condensed version that's sorted by character prevalence. I'm kind of unsure now how useful it might be. And actually I could just write a program that will get all the links and profile images so I can paste them on that page, but I'd need to hard-code the sorting and manually relocate any new polls that haven't had names chosen yet. But I dunno, like you said, different criteria and/or sorting might be more useful. Might be worth a discussion...who actually uses that list? My point was that, that the list is kinda silly since the whole List of ponies already exists and you can already sort that by coat/mane/eye color, name, appearance, gender and type (which is also sortable via the actual pony type lists). And of course, there's also the default setting. I doubt that people actually use the thumbnail list, and if it contained every single pony on the List (which is what's supposed to happen eventually), how much more useful would it really be, having to scroll through tons of pony pictures? Half of them are classified by their appearance, which is already manageable by the List.

In summary, the thumbnail list probably isn't used very much, and in most situations the main List is already more useful. Which brings me back to, can the thumbnail just be used for open polls (last 6 months)? Oakydoke (talk) 10:19, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

Ah, I see. Well, if you're sure people would rather use the full list than that, then just listing open polls sounds good (and more useful). Wish I knew how to program for API, but I guess doing it manually wouldn't be too bad, aside from making sure it's up to date. If it's just 'recent' (last 6 months) polls, then we could probably keep it the same/similar way it is now. I'd suggest adding a 'Reopened poll' category, in addition to the existing ones, to keep better track of ones that may have previously been on the thumbnail list but just got put back. (It might be confusing, especially for the editors - 'Didn't we just remove this one?') Also, some of the 'less common' polls might be 'higher priority' to the voters than others, e.g. 'Rainbow Dad', Girl Scout, etc... is there any (formal) way we could separate fan-adopted ponies into other categories so they can be easily found on that list? I don't think blog post comments give you a notification, so just letting you know, I just replied to your comment on your blog post. Also, I apologize for not doing the reorganization of the placeholder name polls thumbnails list yet, I have a lot of stuff to do. If you want, I could just unprotect the page and let you do it yourself (I'd leave it unprotected afterward so non-admin mods can keep it updated, which admins probably wouldn't do). If you need help with the code, maybe you could set it up (as in text/links/descriptions of what it should look like) in your sandbox and I could finish it up. Whatever works. Wonderbolts is only a sub-list of Pegasus because only grown Pegasi can be (or, at least at the moment, are) Wonderbolts :P. I think including foals is a good idea, to get a full list of Crystal Ponies. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 03:17, June 16, 2013 (UTC)

I think it's logical to put all the Crystal Ponies in one list, but I wonder if it would still technically be a sub-list of the Earth Pony list, if it contains ponies not from that list (i.e. foals).
